Years ago I got into using ball leads for a short while.
Here is what I found:

You can boot these for miles I was quite shocked at the range you can cast one of these Shocked

Once you got used to them putting a lead where you wanted was spot on Very Happy

The runs or takes were something out of this world woo hoo

Then I couldn't get any more for a while so started using other leads.

Has anyone else used ball leads and what did you think of them? Are they still used much?

Here is one for Kev me thinks! . .

I use them from time to time, you can chuck em a fair way but no good if you are fishing on bars or marginal shelves they tend to end up at the bottom, use them more now on rivers to helproll the bait under snags.

the 1/4 or 1/2 oz ones are really good ammo for rats, can get a bit expensive though unless you make your own Laughing Laughing Laughing

If its costing you money then tie the ball lead to some line then you can retrieve it once you've killed the rats Wink Laughing

there wa a guy last year who was casting ont far bank then walking round the lake and clipping his rig on and dropping it under snags , only he missed the cast and hit a tree , had to pull for a break, the lead broke free of the tree shot back accross the lake and landed in his chest cavity one inch from his heart all that was showing was the shockleader, OUCH.
