Mad just flicked through a large monthly carping mag and spotted an advert from a well known firm that have produced a new range of spods that "utilises the technology of dimpled golf balls for longer straighter flight and pinpoint accuracy" . What a load of bull, now i admit im not the sharpest knife in the draw but one of the few things i learnt on my rare visits to school was that golf balls used to be of a smooth spherical shape and were not very accurate as they would swerve a bit of unpredictably, then some bloke noticed that the older and more tatty balls in his bag went a bit straighter and played about with them (stop giggling at the back there is a serious point to this) and came up with golf balls as we know them, but, (and this is the point) this only works because the balls SPIN and the dimples concentrate the air streem behind the ball. Now if you whant a spod to fly longer and straighter put an arrow head on the end but just don't use it in a lake with fish in it you might just kill one. Thats it rant over.

R
E; the dogs wotsitts or do they think we are all muppets

From alan@nashtackle.co.uk

I feel you do yourself an injustice (Re; sharpest knife in the draw)as you are the only one who seems to remember his physics classes at school.
When this idea was first put to me i was just like you - sceptical as i too understood the dimples were to induce spin. However the lad who came to me with the idea illustrated to me the difference between an undoctored spod and his doctored spod - there you go - a lesson for our physics teachers.

Kind regards

Kevin Nash.

nice and polite eh.
didnt show me the difference between the two spods.
Think i will have to get in the shed and make a propper spod for mr nash and show him what can travel longer with pinpoint accuracy lol

Bam i think you mean, a REPLY, BUT,,WHERE IS THE ANSWER????

THERE IS NO ACTUAL ANSWER TO THE QUESTION!!!!!

he seems to have skirted around the question and just said

"However the lad who came to me with the idea illustrated to me the difference between an undoctored spod and his doctored spod"

HOW!!! ANSWER THE QUESTION , ALAN FROM NASH TACKLE!! all he has said is that some bloke came to him and showed him something, could have been a flying pig for all we know, still not convinced and i think bigmck still has a valid point which has yet to be axplained!!!!

I would of thought that was based on the aerodynamics of a sphere?

A loaded spod in a un even balanced tube of random sized weighted food items.
